I've got my first snowboarding trip coming up, I've never been before and I'm worried I'll spend the whole week on the nursery slopes.

Ride your Spindeck for a few minutes a day. Just stand on it trying to balance then as you progress try to tip the board from edge to edge using your ankles. These exercises will give you confidence to ride a board, develop your stance (goofy or regular) and give you the ankle control for toe and heel edge turns. You'll be off the nursery slope quickly and riding proper turns in a few days. Good luck and have fun!

I'm not interested in pulling 360s and grabs I just love riding backcountry with my mates.

Backcountry with your mates is excellent fun, as is tearing up the piste at 60mph. With a Spindeck you can start training for a few minutes a day, building up muscle strength, fitness and balance skills. As a result you'll tire less easily, have better control of your edges in difficult and icy conditions and be less likely to injure yourself in an wipeout.

I've tried pulling 360s already and I just crashed on landing every time, how is Spindeck going to help?

First off, good effort for trying. When you first try to pull spin jumps the tendancy is to wrench your body round and spot the landing as quick as possible. This will send your weight off centre and you'll end up spinning off axis, consequently landing on your front or back rather than your feet. The key is to do all your rotation before you leave the ground and keep your body weight balanced over the centre of your board. Spindeck teaches you to do this and allows you to practice hundreds of times without crashing. You'll quickly develop much better rotational balance and have the confidence to go for big airs knowing you'll stay upright and spot the landing.

I do most of my skating and snowboarding in the pipe, is Spindeck going to help me?

Of course, you might think you are not balancing flat when you take air out of the pipe, but you still need to rotate cleanly and keep the board under your feet. Spindeck will help you practice this and will also help you with grabs you might only get a fraction of a second to practice in the pipe.

Surfers don't really do tricks like skaters and snowboarders so what will I get out of a Spindeck?

More balance boards are used by surfers than any other athlete. That's because balance is so important for making sure you stay upright on the wave. Too much weight forwards or backwards will force you nose or tail into the wave, slowing you up or putting you under. On a Spindeck you can practice getting your balance under control from front to back foot and also from toe edge to heel edge for stronger turns. These exercises will strengthen the leg and ankle muscles you use to surf so you'll feel fitter too. Because Spindeck spins round on its centre you can also practice tight cutbacks and fast turns aswell as 180 or 360 spins.
